The first thing to examine is the quality score of your pages. The quality score is based on how relevant the chosen keywords are to the ads that you are running. The relevance also plays a factor in which websites your advertisements will land. The higher your score, the lower your cost will be when it comes to each pay per click ad. The key is to make sure that the keywords you have chosen are used throughout the landing page. It needs to be prominent. Be sure that the keywords are displayed through the landing page and you can watch the cost's go down as your quality score goes up.

The second thing you will need to do is to continually improve on your keywords and your score. You have learned the basics, now master them. If you are getting scores of 6 or 7, find a way to make them higher. Change the wording of the ads and keep in mind that the keywords need to be shown on the landing page. Have a few different ads with different landing pages and you can spread your marketing dollars even further.

Another thing that should be considered is the actual target position of where your ad will show up in the search engines. Many people will want to aim for the very first spot. It will depend on your budget and your competition if this is the right technique for you. Small businesses should be content with being on the first page. This will allow you to create your web presence without spending every last dime that you have to get the number one positions. No matter where your ad is on the first page, you will still get the traffic you desire. Just make your ad stands out more than the competitors and you will have the benefit of getting the same traffic and paying much less.

You will also want to tailor the bids to the actual search results. Track your paid traffic by the keywords that are being used. Take the time and run some search queries using the keywords you provided and see where and when your ad comes up. These strategies will take a little time and some experimentation but once you get the hang of it and find out what works best for you, you will be saving money on all your advertising costs. Driving traffic to your website will increase profits while saving you money.
